HUBERT AU BANDEAU

“Hubert with the Headband” is a direct adaptation of a character from “Les Voyageurs,” Bruno Catalano’s iconic series. Hubert, in particular, is one of the emblematic figures of his sculptural work, having been depicted in all sizes—especially in monumental form. This sculpture has greatly contributed to the artist’s fame. Here, Hubert is depicted “straight from the foundry,” meaning the sculpture still retains its casting sprues. This choice—which is by no means incidental—serves to emphasize that the model is at work. Hubert is one of the employees at the foundry with which Bruno Catalano collaborates.
